The Nachdi Jawani Bhangra group has been striving to encourage the preservation of the Punjabi culture since 2001. This Bhangra group took Bhangra to unknown boundaries, in the midst of doing this the need for a place of learning and teaching of the Indian folk dance and culture became more prominent.

They were constantly approached by students and parents showing their interests in Bhangra after watching their extravagant performances. In February 2005, Nachdi Jawani held the grand opening of Punjabi Virsa Arts and Culture Academy which is operating successfully. Finding it difficult to operate in a small facility where the demand for this academy was overwhelming, they found a need to relocate to a bigger location to accommodate the increased number of students showing interest. The new academy operates with two class rooms which are taught by 8 professional instructors and classes are held all day Saturday and Sundays. In total this academy has taught 1500 students with a currant base of 400 students operating from three separate locations Brampton and Scarborough.

PVACA holds classes for Bhangra, Gidha, art, dhol, yoga, instruments and turban tying lessons to individuals of all ages. Students enrolled in this academy also have the opportunity to perform in professional teams within their age group.
